Doctor Who's Ayesha Antoine Reads "DWR" by Catrin Kean

Greetings and welcome to WORDTheatre Weekly: The Short Story Podcast where great authors and actors meet! I’m your host, Cedering Fox, WORDTheatre’s Founder & Artistic Director.
This week, we’re bringing you another of the stellar performances from our most recent show, “Seasons of Yearning: Selections from Best British Short Stories 2011-2015”, which took place live in London, and people were deeply moved. This week’s offering is titled “Dwr” by author Catrin Kean, who will introduce her story, and it was performed by Ayesha Antoine. All the writers were in the room. Last week, we put out David Bevan’s story “Helium”, performed by Karl Johnson. Once again, you’re in for a treat. But before we get started,
Please note that WORDTheatre holds the copyright to these recordings and no portion of anything you hear on WORDTheatre Weekly, our short story podcast, may be reproduced without permission.
And now, please welcome the author, Catrin Kean.
Catrin Kean: Hi, my name’s Catrin Kean. I was thrilled to have my short story “Dwr” included in the recent WORDTheatre event. It was beautifully read by Ayesha Antoine who really brought the emotion and atmosphere of it alive, and brought many of us to tears. “Dwr” is the Welsh word for “water”, and it’s a story about loss and regret, and also about things both physical and spiritual that are hidden under the surface of everyday life. The character finds catharsis in a secret place, which is a place inspired by my own home. Cause I won’t spoil the story by saying more, I really hope you enjoy it.
Cedering Fox: Here now, is “Dwr”.
ANTOINE PERFORMS THE STORY.
You have just heard “Dwr” by Catrin Kean, performed by Ayesha Antoine.
